In class, Friday, we discussed the “rant” of Elbert Hubbard
in 1899. When you first hear of the story, we learn about how President McKinley
had to deliver a message to the Cuban general Garcia. A man named Rowan takes
the message without thinking twice and asking no questions. This story makes me
think about how I want to make a plan for myself so that I’m successful during
my four years at John Carroll. I want to always turn in my assignments on time
so I don’t fall into the pattern of being tardy, not only in school but in my
life. Next, I want to be outgoing in math, considering math is my toughest
subject! Whenever I’m in math I go in with a closed mind and always wondering
when the class will end, but I want to learn to try my hardest in math and all
my other subjects. Another goal of mine is to not be afraid of being wrong. I’m
usually shy and timid and in class, and I’m always afraid to raise my hand to
answer a question because I didn't like the idea of being wrong. My fourth goal
is to put myself out there and meet new people! Change is a hard thing but we
have to go out there and never be afraid of people judging you! My last goal is
to find out who I am and who I want to be. I believe if I have a visual in my mind
of who I want to be, anything is possible.

My first (real) day of Human Geo!
Today in Human Geography I finally got to meet Mr. Schick!
During this class some people had to fix their blogs, while others were already
set up. Mr. Schick also explained to us why we use composition books and not
our OneNote for notes. In the past, instead of taking notes students were
playing “Angry Birds” and were distracted. Next we reviewed all the information
we need to know about blogging. We all have to write a blog for every day we
have class, unless you’re sick. All of our blogs should consist of 150-200
words. The blogs are two points each and they make up a decent amount of our
grade. It’s also very important to have good blogs so that when we have a quiz
but can use our blogs for notes, we have valuable information on the subject.
This is all very important in order for us to be successful in Human Geography.
I am looking forward to a great semester and I can’t wait to learn new things!

My First Day
My first day so far at John Carroll has been a crazy one! When I was sitting in the car with my heart pounding I felt so nervous! When I first got to school I walked down the halls to get to my locker and I once again had trouble opening it, but I know I'm bound to get the hang of it eventually. Next, we got put into groups and had to go to the lower gym, the upper gym, the library, and the brown room. It was all very chaotic going from place to place having to get pictures done and hearing about the honor and integrity code. Soon after, we got to hear from our guess speaker. He made us laugh but he also taught us some very important lessons about communication and our beliefs. It was a really great way to start the day and the nervousness finally went away. I still have much more of my day left at John Carroll and I look forward to a great freshman year.
